A Fruit Is a Suitcase for Seeds
The book “A Fruit is a Suitcase for Seeds” is an easy to read fruit book from author Jean Richards. Aimed to educate young minds from ages 2 to 6 years old, the children’s book teaches the joy of planting fruits and cutting them open to find seeds inside.
Illustrator Anca Hariton lends a hand by using watercolors to further bring the words of Richards to life. Aside from the drawings of fruits, fruit seeds, plants and other animals, keeping close to the title, the pages are also filled with tiny details of people carrying suitcases.
The 32-paged fruit book promises not to bore the children with its narrative. It uses words that kids are familiar with and easy to understand. Each page comes with Hariton’s artistic flair and one to two sentences at the lower portion of the page. The idea presented to kids that fruits are suitcases is innovative and creative. This spurs their imagination and lets them see how various fruits and plants grow with different eyes.
