Health Benefits of Soursop

Share this post:

Health Benefits of SoursopThe health benefits of soursop are numerous and plenty. Soursop, also known as gaviola, is a fruit that grows mainly in climates that are warm year-round, like Mexico, Cuba, Central America, and northern South America. The soursop has been referred to as “the healing fruit” because of its various medicinal uses. Even better is that the health benefits of soursop are not restricted to its fruit. Root and bark from the gaviola fruit tree can be used as well. Due to its taste being a cross between a pineapple and a strawberry, the soursop is one medicine you won’t have to choke down in syrup or pill form.

The Anti-Cancer Fruit

While natives have known for years that the health benefits of soursop are legitimate, it is only recently that scientists have put this to the test. A study conducted by a research team at the Uantioxidant-fruits.comversity of Nebraska Medical Center has found that gaviola fruit can kill cancer cells, and it does this by hindering cell metabolism. They were able to test this not only in test tubes, but also in subjects with pancreatic cancer, which is a form of cancer that is known to be particularly hard to deal with. Gaviola fruit slowed the spread of the disease in a significant manner.

Even before this research came to light, studies had been performed to show that gaviola fruit extract can reduce the growth of breast cancer. The extract, unlike other methods, does this without causing any damage to healthy skin tissue in the breast. A study conducted by researchers at Virginia Tech gave mice 200 mg gaviola fruit extract per each kg of food they consumed. At the end of the experiment, the scientists found that the soursop extract had cut tumor growth down by 32%.

Other Health Benefits of Soursop
Gaviola is also beneficial in the treatment of other health problems. The fruit is able to fight both bacterial and fungal infections and reduce inflammation. It acts as a minor sedative by reducing blood pressure. Gaviola contains Vitamins C, B1, B2, Potassium, and fiber. Its vitamin C content helps the fruit to boost your immune system, which leads to even more benefits.
