Pick Your Own Fruit at the Abbott FarmsThe Abbott Farms are known for its U-Pick activity. Come the Fall Festival Days, you can bring your family to enjoy the daily programs they offer which includes the fruit picking activity.

Top of the crop list for the U-Pick are the apples. With its antioxidants and phytonutrient content, it is of no surprise that many choose to pick them. Apples gives you more energy for picking out other fruits than a commercially wrapped candy bar.

Aside from apples, the Abbott Farms also lets you pick other antioxidant fruits like strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cherries and prunes. Strawberries are planted on raised beds for easy picking and berries are sold per pound.

Pumpkins, which are rich in Vitamin A and potassium, are actually fruits. Aside from its flesh, the seeds and flowers can be eaten as well.

Below is a crop picking schedule at the Abbott Farms:

  • Asparagus: May
  • Tomatoes in the greenhouse – 2009
  • Strawberries : June – July
  • Cherries: late June – July
  • Raspberries: July – Oct
  • Blueberries: July – Oct
  • Apples: Aug – Oct
  • Prunes: Sept
  • Pumpkins: Sept – Oct
