Special Fall Pumpkin Recipes – Healthy Too!

Fall’s here and with it come a multitude of new holiday recipes, many of which include pumpkins. You’re probably tired of the same ol’ pumpkin recipes as it is anyway, so why not spice up your fall diet and take a break from pumpkin spice lattes and pumpkin pie?

Healthy Pumpkin Pie Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:
½ cup pumpkin puree
½ very ripe medium-sized banana
¾ cup rice milk
1 tbsp honey
½ tsp pumpkin pie spice
½ tsp nutmeg
¼ tsp vanilla extract
1 cup crushed ice

Directions: Combine all ingredients in your Vitamix blender. Puree the mixture until the texture becomes smooth and all ice has been crushed.

Detoxinista’s Pumpkin Spice Green Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:
¾ cup pumpkin puree
¼ ripe avocado
½ ripe frozen banana
2 large handfuls fresh spinach
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
½ teaspoon vanilla
5 soft Medjool pitted dates
1½ cups of rice milk

Directions: Combine ingredients in Vitamix blender. Continue to blend and watch as the Vitamix completely pulverizes the material and truly mixes the tastes. Turn up to a higher setting if necessary, although the Vitamix 5200 is rather powerful as it is.
