Cherries

Cherries are one of the few antioxidant fruits that make a great healthy and delicious snack. They are a great source of vitamin C, fiber and potassium – and that’s only some of the things that makes this fruit healthy. Did you know that there are over 1,000 different types of cherries?

Being an antioxidant fruit, the cherry contains high amounts of flavonoids and anthocyanins that helps as an anti-inflammatory and has qualities to relieve pain and sores. There are two cherry varieties: the sour and sweet. Sour cherries (like Montgomery and Morello) are most common in the United States.

Cherries can be eaten fresh or can be made into a fruit juice. Research has shown that a single glass of cherry fruit juice has over 8,000 ORAC units compared to a glass of other various fruit juice that only contains 1,700 units.

Fresh cherry recipes are also available especially for those who love to cook and bake. On the other hand, cherries are also used in bath and body for it serves as a moisturizer for the skin healing. Sweet cherries also contain melatonin quantity that helps reduce the risk of heart attacks and most types of cancer.
