It’s funny how this review came about – a friend of mine, who practices the Paleo diet, reached out to me about a cat toy product because I also run a cat website. The cat product is “Yeowww!” and it’s a catantioxidant-fruits.comp toy, but she rather asked me about “Yonanas”. Not knowing what she was talking about, I Googled it and lo and behold, found it and thought it was something ideal to review for this site, given that it’s all about fruit!
So, I reached out to Dole and asked if they would send us a Yonanas Ice Cream Treat Maker for review. Thank you to Dole, the maker of Yonanas, for sending us one to review.
Yonanas is a kitchen appliance that churns frozen fruit into a healthy treat.
The unit comes with a recipe booklet that allows you to experiment with frozen bananas and many other ingredients (like chocolate, spices and other fruit) to create a healthy dessert similar in texture to frozen yogurt or soft-serve ice cream.
I ended up making a few recipes and they all turned out great – for me, I am more of a chocolate and vanilla dessert person. So I wasn’t as keen on the taste of chocolate and peanut butter recipes (like the one I made in the video), but I did enjoy the ones that were all fruit – as they were more like fruit sorbets.
I love the idea of this machine because it not only helps people stay healthy but allows them to have sweet treats without feeling guilty. It’s a great machine to have and use with kids too – the experimentation of what the taste will be from what you put down the Yonanas chute is always interesting.
The only real planning involved was to have the ingredients on hand and also to have cheetah-spotted bananas (which are sweeter) frozen and de-thawed before churning them through the Yonanas. You can see what I mean in the review video posted below.
I found it very easy to clean because the chute, plunger, and blade are dishwasher safe.
I think it makes a great gift for yourself or for someone else!
You can buy the Yonanas Ice Cream Treat Maker on Amazon.
